Forgiveness

My heart kept sinking down the bottomless well when i walked along the corridor viewing these pictures one by one. I could not even breath properly and went speechless when i stepped out of the chamber.

if i am Vietnamese, how can i live with all that history and burden? How can i forgive the ones involved in adding pain and suffering to my nation?

As christiains we talk about love, we talk about forgiveness, we talk about letting go. But how easy it is when what stirs up your anger is not something material but an acquaintance's innocent life, or a family known to you personally with young children who have so many colourful and beautiful plans for the future? Surely the politically correct answer is to say that with God's love there is no sin or no grieve too big to be forgiven. In reality, it is very difficult to have the situation truly resolved as there are always 3 parties involved in forgiveness: sinner, victim and God. God's forgiveness can only relief the sinner from his own guilt and shame and that he knows that God's love will not be lessen because of the sin. however, if the victim has no relationship with God and if he chose not to forgive, there is little the sinner can do in remedying the situation on earth except waiting with faith for God to touch the victim's heart.

Surely, one can claim that let alone hating a whole nation, hating a person is indeed a very painful experience. You need to remind yourself consistently of what you are being wronged. You need to relive the unpleasant experience and feeling so to renew your hatred. You need a lot of energy to fight the inner disturbance. If hatred doesn't come effortless anyway, why don't you try to love your enemy? On another hand, shouldn't we be a little bit more objective than subjective that what we should hate is the sin itself but not the sinner! Why should you point your finger at someone and claimed that he is responsible? Again it is something said being easier than done. I don't doubt that if Jesus is a vietnamese he will be able to forgive all the things the US army had done but human are just not perfect like Him. While we Christians claim that we know that God will host the final judgment and that justice will finally come to us so there is no point for us to fight for ourselves in this life, the true implementation of which relies much on how deep your love for God is and how deep the hatred is. often it is not the heavier side which takes side, but the side with effect to be seen in a shorter time frame - because we human are, again, imperfect, and are lack of faith.
